:: Spotlight :: St Kilda Openair 2010/2011

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

St Kilda Openair breezes on to the rooftop of the spectacular St Kilda Sea Baths on Thursday December 9 for a twelve week season of live music at sunset and full length feature films under the stars.

St Kilda Openair is one of Melbourne’s best-kept seaside secrets - a summer favourite for those in the know. The beauty of the location, a program of sunset music by some of Melbourne's most loved artists, and a fully licensed festival bar completes the event summer sunset vibe. Each night at dusk a full length feature film lights the oversized outdoor screen – the festival program pulls slightly from what you’d expect in mainstream cinema with the inclusion of some lesser known films. For the main part it’s cult favs, classics and the best of new summer releases.

Tickets are bought online and limited tickets are available at the door each night for the spontaneous. Group tickets may also be organised for birthdays, functions and events. You can even organise your own VIP rooftop party!

The program will be released and tickets will go on sale November 9 2010. Films set to screen include: The ‘impassioned, Sexy and Charming’ GAINSBOURG, The most talked about film from 2010 Sundance Film festival THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, and the best underdog film ever made, ROCKY I (76).
