Courtesy of Palace Films, we are pleased to be able to giveaway 15 in-season double passes to the film WELCOME, which opens in Australian cinemas on April 1, 2010.

‘Welcome’ tells the story of Bilal, a 17 years old Kurdish boy from Iraq. He sets off on an adventure-filled journey across Europe. He wants to go to England to see his love who lives there. Bilal finally reaches Calais, but how do you cover 32 kilometres of the English Channel when you can't swim? The boy soon discovers that his trip won't be as easy as he imagined… The community of struggling immigrants in Calais is captured with authenticity, from the point of view of people who arrived there knowing nothing about France. This immigrant drama, with wonderful performances by the actors, is a strong story which uses documentary austerity and minimalist style to create a great emotional impact.

The film is directed by Philippe Lioret and stars Firat Ayverdi, Derya Ayverdi, Audrey Dana, Vincent Lindon

A huge critical and box office success in its native France, this profoundly moving masterwork was awarded the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival, named Best Film at the 2010 Lumiere Awards, and received an astonishing ten Cesar nominations including Best Film and Director.
