:: Editor's note

Pictured: One of the bands I‘m most looking forward to seeing this year is Manchester band Doves. They have one of the best albums of the year, 'Kingdom Of Rust’, out now on EMI Music, and the guys are set to tour Australia later this month for the Splendour In The Grass Festival and some sideshows.

We often support charity events and bring much coverage in order to help promote the cause. Unfortunately, what promised to be an exciting night of music and comedy turned sour for us when my photographer and I were forced to leave St.Kilda's Palais Theatre in disgust after being treated unjustly. The Heart of St.Kilda concert is held each year to support the fine work done by the Sacred Heart Mission. Sacred Heart Mission provides around 500 meals every day to people who are homeless or living in poverty.

Our photographer had settled into a good position front of stage, able to take some performance shots of the first act Blue King Brown, without inconveniencing onlookers. Then, security guards forced him to move saying he had to stand on the side of the stage, a total impracticable situation. The Head of Security told us that this was regular practice (wrong!) as he had taken photos front of stage last year.

We were invited backstage to take some behind-the-scenes shots of the performaers, including Kate Ceberano, Ross Wilson, and Julia Zemiro, to name a few. We waited for other artists to arrive so we could continue getting those shots until the security told us we were a nuisance and in the way - hardly correct as we know most of the artists who were performing. That was the last straw and the delusions of grandeur shown again by security staff left a sour taste of what should have been a rewarding night, particularly in that the organisers managed to coax Icehouse into a second reformation in recent months and come to Melbourne to play for fifteen minutes. Therefore, we won't be bringing you any pictures on the website.

After weeks of preliminary competitions, forty girls lined up for the National Final of the 2009 Ralph Australian Swimwear Model Of The Year. For the first time in the event's history, the Star City Showroom in Sydney hosted the National Final. The winner was Joanna King, 19 years old, from Noosa in Queensland. We have a complete wrap in the Celebrity section.

Change’ is the latest single from talented Australian singer Daniel Merriweather. Daniel has spent considerable time in the UK and USA and is doing some good business. With Mark Ronson having produced his new album, Daniel sits amongst the forefront of the soul-pop revival. Expect to hear much more from Daniel throughout this year.

Under the guidance of the fashion industry's most reputable professionals, experience being a “Model for a day”. Sashvale Pty Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of “Model for a day” in association with one of Australia's most prestigious agencies, FRM Model Management.

We have a run down of most of the action from the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

In other fashion news, coming in with a bang to the swimwear industry scene, Agua Bendita is recognised internationally by their spectacular designs and avant-garde fabrics. Its playful concepts, colours and styles have made Agua Bendita a highly buzzed-about brand.

After twelve long months of hard but dedicated slog in the ‘foot cushion’ division of their Manly design studio in NSW, iconic Aussie fashion label Mambo has burst out of the shed with a soon-to-be-classic version of the already classic Desert Boot.
