:: Burning Brides - Fall Of The Plastic EmpireBurning BridesBurning Brides rock, no understatement. Guitar, bass, drums and abrasive vocals mix into a heavy beat fest of audio adrenalin. If you like your rock unbridled, unhinged and out of control, then this is an album you have every right to be excited about. Although stepping out late in the rock n’ roll come back led by bands such as The Vines, The White Stripes and The Strokes, Burning Brides prove they can make quintessential rock music just as well as, if not better than any of their contemporaries. What stands Burning Brides apart is that they live the rock n’ roll life style as much as they sing it. With an unashamed distaste for ‘ponces’ (their word not mine), and love for all that is self indulgent and reckless, band members Dimitri Coats and Melanie Campbell could never be accused of not practising what they preach, they are most definitely the real deal. As the two are also romantically connected, you could almost mistake them as the next Sonny and Cher, minus of course the clean-cut image and sappy pop. Keeping this in mind, the first single from the album ‘Plank Of Fire’, is the musical embodiment of all the band stands for, and is an exhilarating testimony sure to win over the most ardent doubting Thomas. But this is a not a one hit album, every track is a cranked up rock experience, in particular the ultimate break up song ‘Stabbed In The Back Of The Heart’, and the so heavy it hurts ‘Elevator’. |
