Limp Bizkit

Nobody was sure what the future held for Limp Bizkit after their Big Day Out tour a couple of years ago, when one of their young fans died tragically in the front part of the mosh pit. After some soul searching and writing excursions, Fred Durst and his mates have finally returned with this new album. There is a brutal sound in part, thanks to a new guitarist and a new attitude generally. The rock of “Eat You Alive” sets a tone that sees them go hell for leather. The anthemic charge-up “Gimme The Mic” and “The Only One” don’t show any fragility here. It’s full steam ahead. There isn’t a lot of depth lyrically, but the music is fiery and powerful. Yet, there are melody-laden moments such as “Underneath The Gun” and “Build A Bridge”. Listen out for “Red Light-Green Light” that features Snoop Dogg – an interesting track. Limp Bizkit still displays that fire and passion that made them a huge band two to three years ago. They also throw in a cover of The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes”, quite a surprise, but they do a good job of it. The CD also contains a bonus DVD with excerpts from the band’s upcoming ‘poop’ documentary of four-hours length.
