:: Mandy Kane - Billy Bones

Mandy Kane

Why is it that bad boys have all the fun? Perhaps it’s their total disregard for the rules, the rules the rest of us abide by so willingly. Whatever the answer is, Mandy Kane has bottled the bad boy spirit and sent it to us through his ‘awful creature’, Billy Bones. Like the soundtrack to a modern horror movie, Billy Bones is an excellent mix of grunge and pop, with lyrics that if listened too closely could scare the pants of ya’. The single is supported by a number of excellent tracks, all strengthening Kane’s particular style, showing it to be both intriguing and likeable. ‘Teen Dream Movie Scream’, ‘Mayday’ and ‘Curtain Call’, all run along the same grunge / pop line, yet remain individual songs. The only downfall of the single is the acoustic rendition of Kane’s radio hit ‘Stab’. The absence of thumping beats and computer generated melodies actually prevent the song from taking off, making the whole thing a bit too bread and water. However, thanks to CD technology, with a simple press of the skip button you will be free to enjoy an otherwise exciting and refreshing single.
