:: Showbag - The Town We Loved In

Showbag

Showbag has been prominent on the Perth indie circuit in recent times and they deserve plaudits for their development and imaginative songwriting. I hadn’t heard a lot of them although I’d kept in touch with their good publicity. The debut album reinforces the opinions of the good judges who have expressed a liking for the band’s ability to create incisive pop music. Showbag makes a point of writing about a fictitious town Perish Union in which they tell of various stories of life, hope, and sadness in relationships. They mix thought processes and captivate by the vocals of Jodie Bartlett. The excellent opening track “Perish Union” starts the story well, and other highlights include the poignancy of “Different Town” and “Mean to You”. Overall, this is an extremely promising effort and I look forward to hearing lots more from them.
