:: Tricky - Back To Mine

Tricky

Boy, was I intrigued when this came in. Tricky is a man with wide influences, his albums an often baffling array of sounds and directions. His ability to pull them all together and spit out what we’ve come to know as Tricky is legendary. “Back to Mine” is designed to let us peek into the mind of people like Tricky, to see what they’d be listening to if we dropped by for a spot of tea, or whatever he offered us. Tricky’s liner notes and the tracks he has chosen provide some insight into his unique space. From the Cure to Kate Bush to Doctor John to Chet Baker, the collection is at once listenable and a veritable mini-history of the progression of pop music since the fifties. And the mixing of all these disparate elements is seamless. No real host would have time to put something together this nice and still keep everyone’s drinks full, but it makes for a really nice listening experience. Really want to impress your friends? Put this on and tell them you put together a little mix tape from some old records you had lying around!
