If there was ever a release that sounded as the title suggested - then this is it. The Northern Summer of Abacus Roolz is a windswept, twilight roam through ambient grassy fields and marks the band's second studio album. Musically, Abacus Roolz present a refreshingly organic mix of natural instruments [Piano, Guitar] melted into oppressed electronic washes and beats. It is a compelling, if somewhat, ‘quiet’ listen that owes much to its international flavours and recording destinations [France, UK and Australia] continually drawing the listener into the songs themselves over and beyond the sounds. The Northern Summer of Abacus Roolz has that ‘gets better with every listen feel’ to it and will age very well indeed. Highly recommended is all eight and half minutes of the final track.
