This is an exclusive Australian release of the UK series and it features Australian artists such as Missy Higgins, Eskimo Joe, The Sleepy Jackson and Paul Kelly, while the international contingent includes Jeff Buckley, Ryan Adams, and Badly Drawn Boy. One strange observance is that not all the tracks are actually performed acoustically, or what we would generally perceive as acoustic. Check out the Eskimo Joe, Missy Higgins and Motor Ace songs; all worthwhile songs but not really fitting an acoustic theme. However, you can sense the occasion in the vocals /backing guitar of Jeff Buckley, Neil Finn and Paul Kelly. You get a great appreciation of the vocals and melody in these tracks, certainly how we all miss the superb quality of the late Jeff Buckley. Other artists to note are Doves, the Beautiful Girls, Xavier Rudd, and Turin Breaks. Overall, the music is soothing, just what you want from such a CD, and, though these aren’t the best-known tracks by the selected artists, the songs are still entertaining.
