:: After The Fall - Always Forever

After The Fall

Melodic rock seems to have taken on a whole new meaning lately. It now sounds formulaic, bland and predictable. There‘s currently very little originality being made which truly stands out in this genre at the moment. After The Fall fit that bill perfectly. Their music, despite having a slightly harder edge to it (with 'Concrete Boots’ being an example of that), is, and feels, incredibly boring. All of the eleven songs from ‘Always Forever’ sound pretty much alike - so much so that by the time I got to the seventh song, it could have been any of the six preceding it. Much like In The Grey, these bands all sound the same. It's very hard to pick one from the other. But having said all that, I'd still much rather hear this local five piece over anything the Yanks dump on our airwaves. So while it's merely commercial radio fodder and should find favour with those who like music all wrapped up in a shiny box and never venture outside the safety of their comfort zone, you're still better off with Aussie made and owned goods rather than those cheap and nasty foreign imports.
