It’s been an amazing career, in a sense, for this US band. Nearly twenty years after their first album, Alice Donut returns on the rollercoaster ride for another dose of their punk and metal flavours. The band has only recently reunited to make this album and tour it. They do a worthwhile job in bringing a full-throttle sound and generally show a measure of their previous uniqueness. The CD is very good when you reach for the volume and turn up their energy and rocking ability. A couple of weak spots of basic chords and riffs spoil the knack they had for their driving, stomping rock rages. But their old-time fans won’t mind another hearing of their hard-edged song structures. Listen to the aggression of “Wired” and “Farmer’s Almanac” will get the heads banging, and “She Tells Me Things” is one of the top picks.
