:: All India Radio - Echo OtherAll India RadioThis is the fourth album for All India Radio which has been produced by electro artist, Byron Sculling as evident in the drum loops and tight sounds. Founding member Martin Kennedy was inspired to start the band after listening to KLF’s album Chill Out and if chill out is what you’re after than you won’t be disappointed by Echo Other. Tropic of Unicorn starts the album off slowly and is a short track with slow instrumentation and almost sounds as if it will lead into chanting, although it doesn’t. The sound, much like the band name suggests, is very Middle-Eastern sounding but in a temporary chill-out format. Cellos and viola give it that classic laid-back sound along with the electronic soundscape which it backs. There are minimal vocals with only three songs featuring them. Selena Cross, an Australian artist sounding much like Dido, features on Four Three which starts off with clean slow beats reminiscent of Massive Attack. Diverse sounding, the album moves through a momentous soundscape with track The Time starting off acoustically and delving into a more syncopated rhythm. Mexicola sounds like something from the Mulholland Drive soundtrack, only not as dark, which points to the varied influence of sounds on this album. It is definitely background music which will entice listeners into a dreamier world if they let themselves be encapsulated by flawless rhythms. | ![]() |
