Amiel's songwriting ability will be familiar to most from her hit song “ Lovesong.” The rawness of that song made it shine, bridging a gap between popular music and an indie rock sound. It’s a hard act to follow, and Round and Round is the single release in anticipation of her upcoming album. Unfortunately this track doesn’t have the resonance of Lovesong. It lacks the energy needed to make it a powerful pop hit and the rawness to appeal to indie fans. Amiel’s strength is writing catchy songs with soul. Although Round and Round doesn't quite make it, the rest of the CD single proves her talent isn’t a one-off. The remix of Round and Round has the strong drive the original lacks. The guitar-driven Be Your Girl has the raw edge she is known and loved for. The energetic fourth track Green Eyed World is pure pop gold, and was previously only available on the Hating Alison Ashley soundtrack. This is the first single from the upcoming album These Ties, which will be released in October.
