Brisbane born singer-songwriter Andrew Morris is sure to make his mark in the music world if this album is anything to go by. Sounding uniquely Australian, Morris’s latest release Union Bars reveals a mature, structured and confident artist. Each of the eleven tracks tells its own story, each has its own soul and self of life. Album opener “Here you are, there you go” sets the scene with it’s dusty and rustic sounds, which show off Morris’s honest and delightful voice. Moving on, and to the welcome sound of masterful guitar strumming, “Strawberry valentine” blasts onto the scene, with its sugary lyrics and beat to match. From sombre tales of lost love, to the more upbeat and clever, each song is bound together with seamless lyrics and home-grown philosophies. But “L.A” cannot go without mention. An absolute cracker of a song, it inspires images of a red sports car humming through the sizzling streets of Los Angeles. Morris picks up the pace and let’s loose with a lively and energetic beat which matches perfectly with its lyrics of freedom and fun.
