:: Angie Hart - Grounded BirdAngie HartIt is only natural that Angie will always be remembered for her unique part in the Melbourne band Frente of the mid-1990s. I certainly believe that she was one of Australia's best singers and it was sad that she went “off the scene” for a long time, only really dabbling occasionally like the brilliant song “Tingly” by the outfit Pop. But it was great news to know that Angie Hart was back with her first solo album and we can be thankful of listening to those effortless and sublime vocals again. This is not the cutesy, girlish pop that you might think. She can deliver the grungy and breathy vocals as she sees fit and she genuinely looks back over the last few years and reflects purposefully through these songs. In her reflection, there is an occasional bitter taste but her experience and inner strength allows her to look forward positively. With good use of organs and guitars there is a good flow to the set and it's intersperesed with touches of electronica. Angie still has that touch of cheekiness and, most importantly, that terrific pop vocal skill. | ![]() http://www.ihartangie.net |
