:: Angus James - Man In A Tree

Angus James

The story of Angus James is one of humble beginnings, blood, sweat and tears, and finally, triumph against all odds. It is the story of the common man we all know so well and can relate to ever so closely. The only difference is that Angus James is showing us the way; that if we believe, all is achievable. With the mild fusion of soft country-folk rock, a tinge of electronica, and words that seem to fly out of a private diary of personal experiences and thoughts, Man In A Tree has the makings of a rare, sincere album that captures the spirit of struggle on a purely Austalian landscape. With musical assistance from Bruce Reid, Sandy Klose, James Gillard and Shanley Del, James' songs deal with issues ranging from Bali bombings, his love-hate relationship with the media, a friend's suicide, the futility of being a mechanical lab rat with a business plan and even the dislike of flying. His down-to-earth attitude towards his songs is encouragingly simple and truthful. And I believe this is where I find him most appealing. He is brutally honest about what he feels, fears and wishes for, almost to the point whereby you ask yourself why you should care so much about what others say about you. Important to note as well is the fact that he composed all the songs and helped produced the album. Perhaps you and I can be touched and inspired. Perhaps the aimless lab rats of the world would prick up their ears to listen, and learn a thing or two from Angus James.
