Anna Waronker

Terrific to see the return of the former That Dog lead singer. Anna has become a label owner within the confines of her music family (married to a member of Red Kross) and this is her debut release after some time in the relative wilderness. Her talent as a singer-songwriter remains strong and insightful, after all she led the way on her old band’s final album. Her writing talents are especially insightful on songs such as “Beautiful” and “The Powers That Be”. The features of That Dog probably show up most on “I Wish You Well”. The track “Perfect Ten” is more intense and rockier, something perhaps more indicative of her future direction. That feature, and the general melancholy nature, makes this a worthy album and it creates a platform for Anna Waronker to stamp herself on the indie scene. Note that the Australian release contains a bonus track “Jen” and a video for “Beautiful”.
