Art Brut

Art Brut sounds like Mike Skinner backed by a pop orientated Sex Pistols. However, it does not pay fair and true homage to each of these great British artists. In the times of Franz Ferdinand, The Rakes, Bloc party et al the frantic beats and boozy guitar art pop of Art Brut seems a little contrived and unnecessary. NME labelled the first single and opening track ‘Formed a Band’ as the most brilliantly simple song of the year’. A big call perhaps, only time will tell: proceed with artistic caution.
