:: Various Artists - As Chaos Falls

Various Artists

If there was a sole compilation to capture the very best emo tracks of 2005-2006, As Chaos Falls is just the album to do it. Although slightly behind in its release date, with a handful of artists like The Used, Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance having recorded new albums since these signature tracks were released, the collection of 17 quality tracks however isn't anything short of contributing to a well-rounded overview of the genre, featuring some standout anthems of the past couple years. Panic!'s feel-good and catchy opening steps through the list of emo and pop/punk moments in time, including The Used's Take It Away, Story of the Year's Until The Day I Die and Yelowcard's Lights And Sounds, on the way through to Finnish import HIM, concluding the chapter with their melodic and melancholic Killing Loneliness. Weezer is an obvious odd-on-out, adding a totally welcome and upbeat No One Else, helping to lift the sightly sombre and melodramatic mood common to this genre of music. Without neglecting to throw in a handful of awesome home-grown rock numbers, Gyroscope makes and appearance with a catchy Beware Wolf, while After The Fall's Concrete Boots keeps up the pace.
