Ashlee comes out of her skin to produce a surprisingly good set of songs. Having to match the publicity stakes of her sister Jessica has been difficult enough. However, a slightly bruised persona and public standing has only strengthened her resolve to shine through even the “down” moments on this album. I would say that this is a successful progression from her debut album. Listen out for ‘Boyfriend’ as a catchy track, the power-laden ‘In Another Life’, and the humorous ‘Kicking And Screaming’ for some highlights. Overall, Ashlee provides well-executed chick rock and she is looking pretty sexy these days too. She may yet rise in the “genuine performer” stakes.
