19-year-old American singer-songwriter Ashley Wool comes across as being very assertive and forthright, which is a great thing when releasing independent music. She is one of the many good discoveries for 2007 and her seven-track debut CD “Not Otherwise Specified” showcases a powerful voice amid songs of various structures and moods - flavours of pop, rock and jazz are evident. You can expect the unexpected in some ways, and it's refreshing to see someone so young demonstrating enough talent to suggest that she is on the verge of something more substantial. That will hopefully come soon when, with additional resources for production purposes, Ashley could conjure up some exciting music. In the meantime, I suggest you have a listen to her vocal capabilities and witty, mature storytelling. As this was recorded in 2006 I am keen to hear her next set of songs.
