:: Astronomy Class - Exit StrategyAstronomy ClassVery much suited for those with a strong appreciation for rap music, this album however, won‘t tickle everyone's fancy. “Exit Strategy” falls into the trap of sticking to the rule books without taking a second to explore the world outside. Rap, by nature, can be a very restrictive music genre. Some work with it very well, combining gut-wrenching or immenlsy silly lyrics, with ingenious tunes-naturals in other words. Used correctly rap can be the most powerful way to express emotion, in any of its forms. Others however, have to try just that little bit harder. It's a case of either you've got it, or you don't. It therefore, can be very easy to distinguish what will attract fans strongly, and what will eventually fizzle into nothingness. This latest compilation from Astronomy Class fails to hit any high notes. The tone and musical style sits on a constant throughout the 14 tracks. There just isn't any vibe or 'oomph’ as the same beat is seeminlgy repeated over and over again. The lyrics and beats evoke no reaction. The music fails to inspire. The three bonus studio tracks however, are a treat and provide welcome relief from the constant solidarity. Simply instrumentals, they're as quirky as they are entertaining. Great experimentation and great to listen to. In a nut shell, interesting but slighty lacking. | ![]() |
