Jane Hole is the charismatic person behind this outfit. In an accomplished acoustic set we hear a range of styles within the scope of this singer-songwriter. The folk-laden bass lines are provided by Andrew Fry (John Butler Trio). Jane speaks of love and social injustice and has an impacting personality. The melodic vibe on “Fallen” caresses beautifully. She also demonstrates strength on “Release”. Good use of percussion and the alt-roots feel give promising signs. Overall, it is a solid set of songs although we could do with some more oomph and vitality in the lyrics and music to enable Aurora Jane to go extra steps.
