:: Aurora Jane and Massive Change - Universal LanguageAurora Jane and Massive ChangeAccording to iTunes this album is labelled as folk, I beg to differ. It definitely feels more rootsy to me. Either way, Aurora Jane have been carving out something of a name for themselves and in ‘Universal Language’, they‘ll continue to climb the musical ladder. With tracks the quality of 'Forever Wandering’, which is a lilting number through ‘Colours’ a breathy, sultry and moody tune, to the reggae flavoured ‘Seven Sisters’ and the lively ‘Way It Is’, Aurora prove as diverse as they are talented. There are hints of Blue King Brown, and a dash of John Butler Trio about them but Aurora Jane and Massive Change also forge their own unique sound creating their own destiny. It would be very easy to hear this album played at a few of the better festivals around the country (Meredith, Blues & Roots). With a great mix of slower, more soulful tunes to upbeat, faster songs, ‘Universal Language’ should find wide appeal. I've yet to see them live but judging by the quality of the grooves here and the vibe of their songs, I'm assured they'd be every bit as good live as they are in the recording studio. This is one album worth the seek. | ![]() |
