:: Baby Animals - Il Grande Silenzio

Baby Animals

It was quite amazing to hear that, after approximately thirteen years, the Baby Animals were reforming for a series of concerts with the possibility of recording new material. It promises to be an exciting time. In September 2007, singer Suze DeMarchi, guitarist Dave Leslie and producer Justin Stanley got together to record a set of acoustic arrangements for some of their old hits and favourites for the Liberation Blue acoustic series. It will be seen in great light by their old fans, because the songs have been given a wonderfully light and dreamy outlook that still shows the talent of the band and the songwriting skill. “Il Grande Silenzio” is Italian for “The Great Silence”, and it goes with the flavour of the treatment of the music. That unmistakeable Suze voice and the sensuous versions hopefully can rekindle the fire into a sustained comeback by the band that was at the forefront of Australian rock ‘n’ roll in the early 1990s. You will notice a couple of new numbers, including a song “U Still Need Me” that Suze co-wrote with Andrew Farriss of INXS. Young music lovers of today should take in these terrific songs to gauge how good this band was, and we wait in anticipation for their concerts early in 2008.
