Whilst not scaling the undeniable lofty heights of most of The Libertines tracks, this second single by Pete Doherty’s [ yes he of crack addiction / prison sentences / Kate Moss / NME cover boy fame ] new band, Babyshambles, is engagingly edge riddled, frantic and raw - complete with supermodel backing vocals. The charismatic Mr Doherty [ proud voice in tow ] and friends, including Clash member Mick Jones on production, swagger and sway loosely around a punk infused rock track. It is a simple formulaic sound that they have mastered - yet no other band could sound like it, try as they might. Given the news that Babyshambles cancelled their last tour I would suggest to get hold of this while we still have an important / dangerous rock band to tune into to.
