:: Bananarama - Drama

Bananarama

A very good “return” album by Bananarama. Now, a core group of two members, it’s their first album in nine years and what we loved before from them is recaptured by tight, cool vocals and hooky sounds. The personality of Keren Woodward and Sara Dallin shine through beautifully, co-writing the collection of fun pop songs and upbeat, rhythmic grooves. The passion and flair is still there as they move smoothly into the latest dance-pop movement. Already, the single ‘Move In My Direction’ has made a strong impression as an energetic dance number. Several other stimulating tracks are evident, most notably ‘Feel For You’, ‘Lovebite’, and ‘Frequency’. Two remixes close off the album. ‘Venus’ uses all the vocals of the original and contains fresh sounds to invigorate it. The track ‘Really Saying Something’ is improved with a driving dance vibe with worthy guitar interludes. The effort should be complimented. Overall, ‘Drama’ indicates that the group has kept itself relevant in a new audience in a new musical era – full of modern sounds but still with the Bananarama flavour.
