Without so much as a booklet describing the how and whys of seminal rap/rock act the Beastie Boys, ‘Solid Gold Hits’ comes across as nothing more than a money making exercise. The fifteen tracks are fairly reflective of a career spanning two decades and make for an interesting time capsule. Like a trip down memory lane, it‘s got everything you'd expect from early material: 'So What'cha Want’, ‘Brass Monkey’ and ‘Hey Ladies’ through mega popular hits ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’ and ‘Fight For Your Right’, all the way to recent groovers ‘An Open Lett er To NYC’, ‘Intergalatic’ and ‘Body Movin’. But it‘s my fave (which still gets turned up every time I hear it) the super aggressive, in-your-face attitude of 'Sabotage’ which rocks best. Just genius! It's been an impressive journey and one many will be glad to relive.
