:: Behind Crimson Eyes - Fighting For Our Lives

Behind Crimson Eyes

In September 2008 they opened shows for Disturbed on their Australian tour along with P.O.D. and Alter Bridge.6

A new song has been added to their myspace from their upcoming self-titled album called Addicted. They also recently announced a tour to support Addicted.

On Jan 21 2009 Kevin Orr announced that he was no longer able to continue playing for BCE. Kev states “I consider the dudes in the band my brothers but I just feel as if I can no longer put everything I have into the band like the rest of the guys are”.

Behind Crimson Eyes are on a mission…

Having spent the last 12-months focusing on writing and recording their soon to be released sophomore album, Behind Crimson Eyes have managed to squeeze in national tours alongside rock and heavy greats; Disturbed, Bullet For My Valentine and Iron Maiden, as well as an East Coast run on the Big Day Out tour.

In anticipation of the follow up to their 2006 debut - A Revelation For Despair - Behind
Crimson Eyes are hitting the road for themselves once again. This time in aid of Addicted, the first of many new tracks from the upcoming release. In the process of writing for the new album they uncovered a few truths about themselves.

The result is the light to A Revelation For Despair’s dark. A contrast. A realization that raw honesty does not always manifest itself in ‘despair’ and that exposing the bare bones sometimes uncovers a ‘revelation’ of another sort: triumph through adversity.

“This is a phrase we believe best describes our band.” Explains vocalist Josh Stuart. “Our new material is still as uncompromised as on A Revelation For Despair, but we feel that we have now reconnected with the reason we play music: fun. We realize that this was our childhood dream to play in a touring band and that as a byproduct we should be having as much fun as we can every day that we get to live this dream.”

While ‘living the dream’ is certainly a more lighthearted philosophy for Behind Crimson Eyes, their music has lost none of it’s relevance in the translation.

Addicted is the first hard-hitting single from the March 2009 full-length release and taste of what’s yet to come… See them belt it out live as Behind Crimson Eyes set out on a National headline tour through out November.

Addicted will be available from iTunes from Saturday 8 November.

At one time, homegrown music was about sweating it out as a ‘working class man’ or battling against the restraints and expectations of society like some kind of hard drinking, hard living urbanized Mad Max.

Some things have changed, some haven‘t and it's still a long way to the to the top. Only now, before most bands reach the 'getting ripped off and under paid’ stage, they need to have enough fight in them in the first place and for Behind Crimson Eyes, this is what ‘Fighting For Our Lives’ is about.

“This song represents the point in time where we realised we were the underdog,” declares frontman Josh Stuart. “Where we felt like we had to overcome adversity and prove to the world that we will not fade quietly into the night. This song is a biography of our last year and a half, and an anthem for the future years to come.”

And as a new generation of music fans embrace a fresh wave of Australian artists, Behind Crimson Eyes are contenders. Like Gyroscope, Kisschasy and BCE's good friends, The Getaway Plan, support of these artists is not about patriotic platitudes but the anthems that kick you in the arse and get you amped for the challenges ahead.

For Behind Crimson Eyes, win or lose is irrelevant all that matters is when faced with the unknown, they will throw their hat in the ring and not the towel. It's what all worthwhile success stories are built on or at least the ones worth telling!

Fighting For Our Lives is released February 20 on i-tunes. Taken from the forthcoming new album ‘Behind Crimson Eyes’ out March 20.

Finished the album: That’s right! Finally after around 12 months of writing, recording, mastering and many drinks later, we have finished our 2nd album. The album will be “Self Titled”, mainly because we couldn’t all agree on a title, but it does represent a new beginning for the band. Not only in musical direction but also because this is the first record we have all had equal input. Last time most of the record was written before Garth and Cam joined the band, however this time round we were all part of the writing process for every song! The record is still scheduled for a March 2009 release and we have just tee’d up Joe Whyte to do the illustrations for the album. We used Joe on the Pavour Nocturnus EP and he has done heaps of amazing art since then, including all the Boys Of Summer tour posters, so we are stoked that he is back on board. The final track listing for the album is as follows:

1. Addicted
2. Fighting For Our Lives
3. Armageddonouttahere (previously az16)
4. Death From Above
5. My Love
6. Coming Home
7. I Never Wanted This
8. This Is Who We Are
9. Stay With Me (previously rock ballad)
10. Miss Heartbreaker
