:: Benneson Theory - Heavy Burdens Make Light Of ThisBenneson TheoryIn the last three years, Queensland act Benneson Theory have been busy touring around the country supporting the likes of The Rivalry, Cry Murder, Her Nightmare, Faker and The Amity Affliction, as well as international acts He Is Legend and Underoath on their recent visits to Australian shores. In that time, the band has generated quite a bit of interest, with many anticipating the eventual release of something official from the band. After signing with Brisbane label Skull And Bones Records, Benneson Theory finally entered the studio with producer James Balderstone, and have emerged with their debut EP effort ‘Heavy Burdens Make Light Of This’. The moment the opening track ‘I Trust Me’ drifts out of the speakers; I couldn’t help but draw comparisons to fellow Brisbane outfit The Amity Affliction. Not that the similarities are necessarily a bad thing, but there’s an obvious influence both in terms of song writing and the delivery of the said song, with the dual vocalists and the overall construction of riffs. The comparisons continue throughout the remaining five tracks on the EP, with perhaps the heavier ‘Security Wipes’, ‘5 Minutes’ and the closer ‘Discordance’ sounding a little more experimental in terms of creating atmospheric passages to counterbalance their aggressive moments. | ![]() http://www.myspace.com/bennesontheory |
