This is the return to recording of Irish singer Sinead O’Connor, who is now known as Marie-Bernadette O’Connor. Her rootsy album “Sean Nos Nua” was the last studio project she’d undertaken. I think this new set will probably only reveal favourably to her fans. The recording was set with the monks of Glenstal Abbey and the renowned musicologist Noirin Ni Riain. With her distinctive voice, this album should have some success, and lovers of Gregorian chants will appreciate it too. There are the spoken word offerings of John O’Donohue, a spiritual poet and philosopher, and other soloists and choirs. Sinead’s recent live church performances only add to the unique flavour that is offered.
