Bloc Party's ‘Silent Alarm’ won fans and critics alike. A young, brash album filled with driving percussion, indie attitude and raw talent. Presented now is the entire album remixed by the band's friends, artists and associates - it is a mixed bag, not only owing to the diverse line up but also as some of the songs are simply better than others. Whilst fans will appreciate and endear themselves to these treatments - for mine they are never as good as the original; to be fair I doubt any of the artists would disagree. Of most note is the Ladytron opener ‘Like Eating Glass, the delicate Blue Light by “Engineers’ and the gloomy ‘Compliments’ by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner. However, none reach the heights of the splendid EP remix of ‘banquet’. A fun listen that will add stature beyond the hype.
