There is a charisma and ever-lasting image of these guys churning out brilliant, anthemic songs that will always live in the memory. Bon Jovi has released numerous singles and albums, including a couple o greatest hits sets. Now, they relive the better part of their history with compiling some of their favourites in purely acoustic format. So this time, they rework their old hits and make some unusual, rare arrangements. Twelve songs get “new versions”, including the one probably least affected in song structure, “Wanted: Dead Or Alive”. It still has that dramatic edge. An interesting version is the classic “Livin’ On A Prayer”, which features the soulful vocals of Olivia d’Abo. There will be mixed thoughts amongst the many Bon Jovi fans. Some can’t do without the energetic rock blasts while others may like these softer interpretations. But really, these are still great songs that have been offered differently by the band. It’s not like somebody else has torn them apart or damaged their impact. The CD has a bonus DVD that is footage taken from AOL sessions in December 2002. It comprises six additional video tracks from the CD and shows them in their acoustic element at NRG Studios in California. This should be another fine CD for the BJ fans to embrace.
