:: Boytown - Original SoundtrackBoytownAaron Carter and his brother Nick would be envious of this upcoming boyband that is stealing the (older) ladies’ hearts. This five piece boyband that is not afraid to wear tummy tank tops, swoon pathetically about angels and crying. Only difference is that the members of this band, such as Mick Molley and Glenn Robbins, are almost baby boomer age and have given up on the MTV teenie market, happy to serenade ‘mature’ ladies of their own generation. They do this cleverly with tracks such as, “Dishpan Hands” “Special Time (Of the Month) and the indulgent “Pussywhipped.” The title track, Boytown ( “population, Five.”) is over the top sucking up to their intended female audience, “girl, we’re not afraid to cry” lots of excessive “whoahs.“ Similarly, the “Love 2 Love” ballad is full of meaningless reiterated realisations like “Love Is Love.” Following this is the sappy “I Cry” - where the boys emphasise that they love to cry even when they do nothing, Take note, Backstreet Boys, your fake crying in film clips is not as heroic as Boytown who admit to, “I cry when I see a little bird.” But Boytown believe they are more than just angel dust tears and demonstrate their manly and practical side in songs like, “Parent Teacher Night” and “Picking Up The Kids From School.” Cheeky they are with “Do Me” and dead serious are they with their claims that they’d rather watch Dirty Dancing than sport. With a very unique visual appearance (words cannot do justice to the flab flaunting shiny tops that the boys wear), Boytown are very entertaining. Be careful ladies, the very polite and strangely compassionate sensitive new aged guys have “but one demand.” ….. “To touch you all over, with my dishpan hands.” | ![]() |
