:: Brakes - Give Blood

Brakes

Made up from members of UK collective talents: British Sea Power, The Electric Soft Parade and Tenderfoot, it automatically gives the Brakes a certain “coolness” and appeal about them, as well as an obvious leg up. Musically, they‘re best defined as melodic indie-rock. With 16 tracks and an album that clocks in at under 30 minutes, it's almost a case of blink and you'll miss it but with songs the calibre of 'All Night Disco Party’ (which has received plenty of airplay) and ‘Sometimes Always,’ there's enough substance here to keep hitting that replay button. At times it can sound quite hectic and very messy (’‘Pick Up The Phone’) while at others it‘s simply sublime ('You're So Pretty’), whichever way you look at it there‘s no denying the Brakes know how to cut a tune. Catchy, enjoyable, cool and edgy, 'Give Blood’ is the type of album a sometimes stale music industry needs as it shakes things up, makes it more interesting and is refreshing and real! That's all you can ask of a band.
