It might read as something unusual, but this is a new record label established in Sydney in the last twelve months. The team comprises Juliette Bouquerel, Alex Fitzwater and Cedric Sarret, and they’re putting forward a new insight into French music. This is a means of helping to reach greater audiences because their brand of urban music holds up strongly as one of the largest in the world. And you would know from some of our previous reviews of R&B and chilled music that there is a strong cross-section of Middle Eastern and African influences evident. Therefore, this gives us a taste in reflecting such diversity and there is some interesting talent on show. From the moment you listen to a track like ‘Pepetes’, a chilled, hip-hop track complete with clever double bass, it sets up a pleasing collection of styles in a warm atmosphere.
