The tradition continues, as they say. The fine work of the previous albums in the collection has been continued with a sparkling array of chilled music from all sectors of the globe. The music is a wonderful distraction to those in a laid-back cafe and bar environment. The protagonists are composer and arranger David Visan and Buddha Bar resident producer Ravin. They continue to serve up international sounds with cool rhythms and breathy vocals. It is noticeable, though, that they dare explore other styles of music, such as funk and drum & bass, with a couple of harder tracks thrown in to liven things up and escape 100% chilled music. They draw inspiration from bringing in a Latin sound by way of Spanish guitar. There will be different reasons for either liking or disliking the compilation. It’s not your straight up-and-down Buddha Bar set. It will be interesting to gauge the future direction of the series. For now, No.7 is still to enjoy.
