:: Buffalo - Only Want You For Your Body (re-release)BuffaloThe re-release of ‘Only Want You For Your Body’ from classic ‘70s Australian heavy rock outfit Buffalo, is a timely reminder of what made music so brilliant during this period. With current psychedelic rockers Wolfmother creating an interest in this scene again, courtesy of their Black Sabbath/ Led Zeppelin/ Deep Purple influences, it's given other bands who perhaps went largely unnoticed and were unappreciated, another chance to be heard. Somewhat of a controversial act during their relatively short stint together, Buffalo eventually fell by the wayside with in-fighting, band sackings, and the constant lack of success when compared to other more “commercially” viable acts who received plenty of radio airplay and television appearances. Pity, as they certainly had a reasonable following and surrounded by continual controversy, they're the type of act music needs every once in a while to feel alive! While some of the song titles are a laugh – yes, they really did have a song called 'I'm A Skirt Lifter, Not A Shirt Raiser’ – the music itself is incredibly strong, powerful and quite remarkably, has stood the test of time. With two bonus tracks included – ‘What's Going On’ (single version) and ‘United Nations’ (a live version) – in this repackaged, re-release, it's a great introduction to some classic Aussie hard rock from the day. |
