The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect has been one of the hardest working bands in Australia in recent years. They return with their second album and the announcement of one of the longest national tours seen in a while. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Joe Barresi (Fu Manchu/Melvins/Queens of the Stone Age). Already, a first single “A Slow Descent" has made solid airplay gains, particularly with Triple J radio in Australia. Having followed the band’s career since its first trip to Melbourne, I have noticed the purposeful nature in following their ambition and this set actually exceeds my expectations in terms of the maturity in songwriting and the vocal development shown by Clint Boge. His soaring vocals projects through various ranges and he is showing greater versatility. The band’s often fiery, punk-filled music of the earlier days now matures into emotional, intense arrangements. The album indicates a very melodic heavy rock sound which differentiates the band from many other Australian rock bands these days. With their will to succeed and commitment to the audience, it’s terrific to observe their growth. If this new album is anything to go by, subsequent international interest isn’t far away. In the meantime, ensure you get a dose of The Butterfly Effect during their upcoming marathon tour. Check our national gig guide for all the dates.
