:: Caesars Rome - The Company We KeepCaesars RomeHaving made an impression in their native Wales and within the UK while supporting acts such as Funeral For A Friend, InMe, Innerpartysystem, The Xcerts and Twin Atlantic, Caesars Rome have caught the attention of up and coming German label Superball Music, who are finally releasing the band’s debut album ‘The Company We Keep’. With their list of influences including acts such as Thrice, Jimmy Eat World, Brand New and Hot Water Music, it’s not too hard to figure out where Caesars Rome sits in terms of sound and direction. And if you were thinking something along the lines of alternative/emo rock, you’d be right on the money. The opening track ‘Vegas & Its Nightlife’ is a lively enough track, and one that clearly draws the line in regards to confirming exactly what sound the band are aiming for, which clearly lies somewhere between Funeral For A Friend and Jimmy Eat World. Although not having a huge range, vocalist Jonathan Hopkins is more than capable of giving the band a strong and melodic presence up front, while the remainder of the group sound more than capable of ensuring a big sound. The high standard set by the opener is maintained for the remainder of the album, with the towering ‘High On The Nines’, the emotive and captivating ‘Let’s Wish’, the rocking ‘Finding Waves’ and the lengthy closer ‘O’Captain’ some of the more memorable efforts amongst the album. Although the middle of the album does have a few of the tracks blurring into one another, and the band’s song writing coming across as a bit formula-like in some places, overall ‘The Company We Keep’ is a solid and thoroughly enjoyable album, and one that’s sure to find an audience in next to no time. | ![]() http://www.myspace.com/caesarsrome |
