:: Carl Riseley - The Rise

Carl Riseley

Following on from the recent introductions we've had to young crooners like Eran James and Mark Sholtez, comes Carl Riseley, originally from the Gold Coast and having served as a musician (trumpeter) in the Australian Navy. In fact, Carl received Defence Service Medals and an Iraq Medal for his active service. It's a welcome sight to see another singer beginning to fulfil the potential and “The Rise” serves notice that Carl has a fine future ahead of him. His pop/jazz vocal representations are well arranged and the featured guests on the album, including trumpeting legend James Morrison, add to the enjoyment of these loved hits. Listen out for Carl's smooth voice on “This Guy's In Love With You”, “The Girl From Ipanema”, “Lido Shuffle”, and “The Letter”, all great examples of Carl's ability. There's also his rendition of Sade's “Smooth Operator” - the first time I've ever heard a male singing that song. He does a terrific job too. There is an endearing quality about Carl (as a young entertainer) that should give him a long and rewarding career.
