A great young band to come on to the Australian music scene is Cassette Kids, from New South Wales. Their debut seven-track EP is ‘We Are’ and it‘s a worthy means of introduction. Already, the band, having prepared for a couple of years for this moment, realise that you need to be patient in the ambition for success. However, this band has already taken a hefty climb and display fervent energy in their live shows. In essence, the band is firing on all cylinders and the band members’ diverse interests blend beautifully to form a creative and punchy set that augurs well for the future. There is an edgy element to the whole make-up and it's their lead singer Katrina Noorbergen. She adds that additional bite from an everyday band, creating a refreshing presence that could really set them apart. This EP is a burst of energetic songs and it simply goes “bang” and twenty-two minutes later, it's all gone. It definitely leaves you wanting more. The band obviously have more experience to gain and will create more flavoursome and inventive hooks and different textures. The drive for an edgy indie-rock sound is sure to see some interesting future music from this promising band.
