It‘s been refreshing to see the rise of Cassie Davis this year. The Australian singer-songwriter is very driven to succeed and meet her ambitions. A couple of infectious singles during 2009 has seen her star shine and her debut album 'Differently’ showcases her determination to do things as she sees, creating a passion and energy in performance and bringing her all-round musicianship to the fore. We‘d already heard the catchy 'Like It Loud’, which achieved gold record status. Follow-up singles ‘Differently’ and ‘Do It Again’ have solidified her presence in the Australian music scene, the latter track being upbeat with African rhythms and strong guitars. There‘s a unique mix of styles throughout as Cassie entertains her various passions. There's a dash of pop and rock, with a smattering of urban and gospel sounds. With other tracks like the big ballad 'Amazing’, the African beats of ‘Hero’, and the dark and personal ‘Mess of Mine’, there is much to like about Cassie's musical instincts. She is set to forge her own path in music as a capable singer, songwriter and producer - a refreshing aspect that we should fully support.
