:: Various Artists - Central Station 30 Years (The House Years mixed by Groove Terminator & Matt Nugent)

Various Artists

This is the second of the special set of compilations to mark Central Station‘s 30th birthday. It covers the House Years. The enduring popularity of house music had much of its celebrated periods in the 80s and 90s and it's Groove Terminator who is tasked with selecting a good cross-section of house styles that Central Station moulded. The club scene was lit up by some of these fine moments. Take the influence of Icehouse and Itch-e & Scratch-e. They are represented here and can take a bow at their influence, being two artists well ahead of their time. The Rogue Traders mix of an INXS classic, turning it into 'One Of My Kind’ scored well for them, plus Josh Abrahams‘ 'Addicted To Bass’ became known ever so well in Australia and beyond. The second disc is compiled by Matt Nugent and the funky house elements resonate well with artists featured including Moloko, Armand Van Helden, and Roger Sanchez. Probably a mixed bag here as not all would be to house lovers liking. But overall, the two-disc set is a pleasing reminder of days gone by.
