:: Cheryl Cole - 3 Words

Cheryl Cole

Ex-Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole ventures into her own solo path with some pop treats on her debut album “3 Words”. With the assistance of some enterprising writing and producing providers, Cheryl displays her vocal talent to great effect on most of the tracks. There is more of a dance influence than what her old band provided and much has been due to the capabilities of Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am who co-wrote four of the tracks with Cheryl, including the interesting title track, with the strings and synths effects. There are a couple of real pop gems - “Make Me Cry” and “Stand Up”, plus another Will.i.am track “Heartbreaker” which was a hit a couple of years ago and which featured Cheryl as backing. The more upbeat tracks are the ones that provide the spark here, as being very catchy and addictive. A couple of loose efforts spoil the party somewhat and the tone of the album may not resonate with her old fans. I feel as though Cheryl hasn't quite stamped her personality on this but there is great scope for her to fulfill her musical ambitions with greater focus and energy. Despite her everyday life being a celebrity story in the UK, Cheryl is still good enough, with her vocal range, to carry the solo singing load and exhibit some worthy music.
