:: Chris Cavill & the Long Weekend - Distance

Chris Cavill & the Long Weekend

The most surprising thing about Melbourne based Chris Cavill & The Long Weekend’s album ‘Distance’ is that it is their debut album. This is a truly sensational album… one of the best that I have heard this year actually. ‘Distance’ is a great album that doesn’t put a foot wrong. It kicks off with an absolutely brilliant track titled ‘Til Dawn and Beyond’. This track does everything right, it sounds great both vocally and instrumentally, and is also catchy enough to get a good fan base for the group. It is followed up by ‘The Leading Edge’, an awesome rock track that contains so amazing harmonies with just a hint of old style rock. ‘Fire Up’ is heavily reggae influenced while the catchiness of this album returns on ‘Monday Train’, a track that will have you tapping along in no time. My favourite track on this album is ‘Burning Love’, a truly beautiful love song. Once again the sweet sound of reggae returns on ‘Kings’ as does the harmonies on ‘A Long Road’… yet another great track. ‘Tears From My Soul’ is a song I listened to over and over, while the smooth ‘This World’ just showcases this groups songwriting capabilities. The album then finishes with another sensational track, ‘Woman’… a track I could never grow tired of. ‘Distance’ is an amazing album. I haven’t heard a debut album sound this good for a long, long time. Keep an eye out for Chris Cavill & The Long Weekend… these guys are gonna be big.
