:: Clare Bowditch & the New Slang - Modern Day AddictionClare Bowditch & the New SlangClare Bowditch is one of those capable musicians who can put her observations in a songwriting form and bring a light touch or a charming sense of faith to the subject matter. Her social commentaries have been at the forefront of her rise over the past five years. Clare‘s sense of giving to what her generation wants is fathomable and generous. Her latest album tends towards a poppier sound than previously and, as a talented storyteller, provides some gorgeous lyrics and many touching moments. Clare's voice is as strong and pleasurable as always and she will always please her long devoted fans of earlier days - e.g. the songs 'A Little History’ and ‘The Most Beautiful Lies’, and the minimalist ‘Your Own Kind Of Girl’. You'll note the change of band mate that Clare and her husband Marty Brown have forged - The New Slang, as opposed to The Feeding Set. You could say that is due to a regular member who is absent on leave, but a move upwards in terms of the levels of instrumentation - a more sprightly attitude. Clare speaks and sings truly from the heart, as opposed to some of the inane bellowings we get from some female performers. It's worth having a good listen as you will surely build a solid, substantial relationship with Clare Bowditch and her music. She is a real voice amongst some superfluous voices out there. | ![]() http://www.clarebowditch.com/ |
