:: Colette - Push

Colette

OM’s first lady returns with her sophomore album ‘Push’ and it’s definitely a creeper. Upon first listen you may be thinking you’ve picked up a frisbee, but it’s worth sticking it out. True, the Chicago-raised beauty has gone a bit bubble-gummy, and some of the tracks on this album are a bit off, but production is tight, her vocal is, as always, powerful and well placed, and her experimental mix of down-tempo electro, house and even hip hop go a long way after all is said and done. An included Chuck Love remix of ‘About Us’ further sweetens the package, as do radio-friendly tracks like ‘If’ and ‘Funny’ featuring OM Hip Hop artist Black Spade. Not as good as her debut ‘Hypnotised’, but by no means a failure. Keep pushing Colette.
