:: Colourfast - WalkColourfastColourfast have been playing together for several years, and their experience is evident on their latest release ‘Walk’. Their experience lends the album an air of self-assurance and confidence that saves tracks which would be album fillers for lesser musicians. ‘Ten-Fifteen’ could be a Tim Rogers outtake, working a brass section, punchy lyrics and guitar licks to perfection. ‘You Now’ has a predatory vibe, brooding vocals caught up in a snaky synth. The influence of producer Paul Woody Annison (Rocket Science, Red Riders, Intercooler) is apparent on Walk, a deceptively optimistic anthem wrapped in world weary atmospherics reminiscent of Oasis. The rest of the album gives into a tendency to fall back on rockin’ but repetitious tracks. The darker textures of Walk almost, but not quite, manage to rescue it from the realms of inoffensive but unremarkable indie-rock. | ![]() |
